Google India Blog announced yesterday that it would begin collecting photographs of Indian roads and nearby areas as a part of Google maps street view. The collection will start from Bangalore and will eventually spread to the other major cities of the country. However, there are news of people already spotting Google vehicles inMumbai, Noida, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and other cities. After starting Street View technology in US and spreading it to 27 counties, 4 years later, it finally came to India. For that reason press took it with great enthusiasm and news spread as wild-fire on twitter and Facebook.

Over the privacy concerns, Google India confirms that all faces and vehicle number plates will be blurred and no Wi-Fi access point information will be stored. Bangalore traffic department has formally approved the image collection. Nevertheless, if you happen to find any sensitive image, you can request its removal it by clicking on ‘Report a problem‘ in the bottom left corner of the Street View image.
